Folder: FACE GRAFT
|
AbstractThe portrait after a face transplant. Face transplant covered physiology too such as the operation itself and its anti rejection pharmaceutic strategies. It touched upon political and institutional issues. Until then, it was only addressed as fictionial in theatre and in cinema. Face transplant raise questions regarding the uniqueness of the portrait. The donor remains an added element impossible to integrate. However, with these grafts, randomness has taken over because of risks of rejection and availabilities of grafts. From this point of view, Face transplant gives a new power to the random component of a portrait, a component that Otto Dix already expressed in his painting The Skat Players (1920). |
